My two daughters' medical issues.

My two beautiful daughters are having very serious health issues now.  My older daughter had a full mastectomy last week and some of her lymph nodes removed too.  Her cancer is a very rare type that only 1% of the world's population has.  For some reason China has a slightly higher rate at 3%.  Its horrible name is adenoid cystic carcinoma.  It responds to surgery very well, somewhat to chemotherapy, and not at all to radiation therapy.  She visits her doctor and surgeon this morning.  I hope for a very good outcome.  If any lingering cancer remains, she may be prescribed chemotherapy. I certainly hope not!!

My younger daughter has had 2 brain surgeries, one spine surgery, and 2 eye surgeries.  She was diagnosed with VHL (Von Hippel-Lindau) about 9 years ago.  She must have another spinal surgery next month to fuse 2 neck vertebra together.  Her only worry is finding a person to see her children off to school that morning.  She will be home the next morning.  She has the afternoon and the following morning children's needs taken care of.

Obviously since these are my daughters, my heart is very heavy.  I worry about them constantly.  Between them, they have 8 children.  Their children think this is just a part of life and treat their mothers as if nothing is wrong.  I don't understand how they can feel that way.  I speak with them gently about it when the occasion arises.  I hope they realize the seriousness of their mothers' conditions.
