NPD (Narcissistic Personality Disorder)
Living with someone with NPD especially Abusive NPD is an experience I wish on no one. It is horrific. You become a slave to the whims of a master. They are psychological vampires - sucking out everything that is you. It can happen to you. They are charming, cunning, and manipulative to the extreme. The abuse can be worse than physical torture. The paradox is that once you have accepted the fact that the horror in which you live must end, you have to become like them to escape in order to reclaim your life. I experienced a scene very similar to the one in Vanilla Sky when Cameron Diaz could not accept the fact the Tom Cruise wanted nothing more to do with her. She crashed her car trying to kill them both. I escaped with my life, and walked away with a life lesson that I will NEVER repeat.
Two decent books to read are
Malignant Self Love and Out of the Fog. I could write volumes of books about my experience. I have decided, however, to look forward rather than mulling over the past. I will never forget it though. That way, I can ensure it won't happen again. I'm still in the process of reclaiming my soul.
